For some Gardening is about cutting the grass once a week and throwing Miracle Grow about with one of those fancy hose attachments.

Well that aint me.

I love growing things - propagating and designing. I’m not an instant gardener and like to see gardens and plants develop over time.

I do the Latin thing when it comes to plant names so that I get the right plant - but I love simple and common names for plants.

The Burned Toffee Tree - The Pocket Handkerchief Tree - Grannies Bonnets or even Stinking Billies as some call Sweet Williams.

The names can be so evocative and descriptive, showing you how people relate to the plants and how they came to be with us here in the UK.

I am also interested in the different uses of plants for food, medicine and other uses.

I come from a long line of gardeners and plantsmen and I have inherited quite a few green fingers, toes and other bits too!
